Has anybody heard the song Stevie has with Tony Bennett on Tony's new CD?

Ed in Ft LaudNov 30, 2001 (05h44)
Who's that Announcer? The "Fingertips" recording that is still played on the radio has a man's voice near the end saying "Little Stevie Wonder, let's hear it for him" and then Stevie keeps playing even better. Who is that man? Was this the Jackie Gleason show? If not, who is the announcer? Where was that live recording done? Was this Stevie Wonder's first time on TV?

well, one day I was at work , and I was just really having a bad day, and this guy came to the store and was just buying all this stuff, well, to make a long story short , his credit card was stolen, and it was my fault because I had forgot to check for ID, after it happened, I pretty much knew what I did was wrong , and that I wouldn't have my job much long after that, so I started to cry, and usually the mall, plays these really corny songs, but at this time they were playing this song by Stevie Wonder and,it was something like, "don't you worry bout a thing", don't you worry bout a thang mama, and I just really cheered me back up, so I did lose my job but I was cool about it .
Thanks, Rajea

I'm looking to find a good Stevie Wonder CD to purchase for a friend for Christmas. I am only vaguely familiar with his work, and would like to find an album that shows a range of his material, but I don't know where to begin. Is there one album that would showcase more of his work than another? Can anyone reccomend anything? Any advice would be much appreciated!
Thank you. :)

I'm a Brazilian guy who figures out Steve Wonder songs a little bit late. But nothing is late enough to not start. I'm 28 years old and I learned to see how my life is wonderful with a blind genius. Thanks God for Stevie Wonder!

KeisNov 27, 2001 (00h55)
Does anybody know the title of a musical piece, which was composed by Stevie in honour of Krzysztof Kamil Baczynski, the Polish poet who was killed in WWII? I have only heard this piece once, back in the 80's at an art gallery in Warsaw.

ChristianNov 27, 2001 (00h54)

Mr. Morris (Wonder),

I have been an avid fan of yours ever since I was a child. I have virtually every album thatyou have put out. I feel especially blessed that you have chosen to share your gifts of songwriting, producing, and philanthropy to the masses. I will always continue to support you.

PS: Will you ever do a "Duets" album like Frank Sinatra? If you need help in selecting artists, let me know.

In the late 60s I heard a song, you sang it.... I bought it. I have bought your records ever sice !!!, I weaned my 4 children on you, they are parents themselves now. I have seen you live every time you visit Birmingham, England, I am a granny now, I almost got to go on stage with you years ago, the last time you came to Birmingham, when one of your band came and asked me if it was my birthday, I could not lie and repeatedly said no, then the chap behind said it was his birthday and HE went on stage and you sang 'Happy Birthday To You'. Well needless to say I am still kicking myself.... Well Stevie, now you know, an old granny kicks her own bottom, every time she hears you sing !!!!! Will you ever be coming to Birmingham again, If you do, I will ask please..... see if you could possibly include the song that I think is one of your best and my favorite. Black Orchid. Every time I have been to your concerts I get there early hoping to pass a piece of paper with this request on, I have been lucky sometimes and managed to pass the note, but NO BLACK ORCHID.

If you do really read all these messages, Take care and let us see you soon in the UK. From a Gran whose been a fan for of 33 years xx

Anyone got anyt idea when steves gonna tour europe?????

andreasNov 20, 2001 (11h56)
I read in John Swenson's biography of Stevie Wonder that he completed somewhere between 400-1000 songs for "Innervisions". I'm wondering if anyone has any info on getting hold of some of that unreleased material...? If not, Stevie: That material is too valuable to just sit around some studio archive. Please think about releasing some of it !!

Hey Stevie, I just thought I'd tell you (though you've heard this a million times) that you're brilliant. I'm a music student at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario. I'm in a jazz program here and I think it's pretty cool that alongside the hundreds of old standards we're taught to play, many of your songs are also included in the repertoire. I'm taking an arranging class, which is a fun challenge. My next arrangement is going to be your tune "You are the Sunshine of my Life". I don't know if you'll even receive this message, but if you do, could you PLEASE send me an e-mail of the changes for the tune. I would be totally blown away by any kind of acknowledgment from you. Your one of my musical heros, man! Oh yeah, one more thing. When's the next tour?!

andyNov 19, 2001 (12h05)
Ki Ora Mr Wonder
my girl Lanz is a huge fan of yours, one of her goals in life is to get you to come and do a concert in New Zealand. I hope you do play down here as there are alot of people who love your music in N.Z. If at all possible can you sign a picture and send it to me for Lanz , it would blow her away and put me in favour for some time to come.

CubeNov 15, 2001 (13h56)
What I like about Stevie is that a lot of his songs have substance. Unlike a lot of the new songs even Whitney has been doing some songs which have only a few chords and a predictable melody scating around the chords same with Mary J Blige great voices but the melodies and the structure of those songs don't do anything of lasting value when you look at the song writers of the 70's folks like Stevie, James Taylor , Carole King also Burt Bacarach those songs had great key changes, I find a lot of the stuff today reptitive and boring, I was suprised to hear Micheal Jackson's new album where melody is coming back to the forfront, some great ballads on there.

I remember when I first heard ,'Songs in the Key' each song was different and Stevie had a way of making each song touch your heartstrings songs like 'Knocks me off my feet' and 'Summer soft' as well as the latin flavored, 'I am Singing'.

Music needs to get back to memeroble albums and songs that last the test of time.

MikeNov 15, 2001 (12h53)
Dear Mr. Stevie Wonder
My future wife in a very dedicated fan of yours. She has been listening to and playing your music since she was 12 years old. As I also find you one of the greatest musicians alive, I would very much like to give her concert tickets to one your concerts next year as a wedding present. Is there any plans of concerts in Europe? In any case I would be happy to get a calendar of your scheduled concerts.

CubeNov 15, 2001 (12h18)
Stevie Has a new duet with Tonny Bennet on Tony's new album , I've heard a sample on the net. It's entitled,'I love the blues' Stevie sure kicks ass.

Stevie we're all waiting eagerly for a new album if not by xmas please early in January , the way people are feeling now with the recent tragedies , I know your new album will give folks fresh hope, you are so blessed by the Lord and your songs have a way of making people feel happy and that we should celebrate the gift of life.
Also in the early eighties there was a documentry on the TV they showed you just sitting by the keyboard writing this incredible ballard, I think it goes somthing like,'I never new ,I never saw her face ,' & towards the end of the phrase you sung,'What the creator has in store' It was one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard you do, Could you please, please please include this song on your new album. Thanks God bless

The book called 'STEVIE WONDER - COMPLETE' from around 1979 or '80
contained charts for all the songs from 'MUSIC OF MY MIND' thru 'JOURNEY THROUGH THE SECRET LIFE OF PLANTS' ... everything was there, and the
changes were fairly accurate (some songs were in the wrong key). It was a great book for its time and I'm sorry I can't recall the publisher's name. I should say almost everything was there. How come the amazing lead song from 'MUSIC OF MY MIND' [Love Having You Around] was left out of that collection? ... I've never seen it published, not anywhere ... I'd love to see a chart for that one (proper keyboard voices and all). That song, with that distorted Rhodes intro and Stevie's shout of "Please" soared out from my speakers in 1972 and immediately became the "shot heard 'round the world" ... proclaiming a new sound, a musical revolution ... a new chapter. Those first few bars (and that incredibly funky verse about the kite and the camel) said, to anyone who was listening, that STEVIE had truly arrived ....

Hey Stevie fans
I listened to Stevie's duet with Take six its was done about 8 years ago, it an old gospel classic from Handel's messiah called:'O Thou That tellest great tidings to Zion' it's so beautiful especailly towards the end when Stevie and the guys loosen up , Stevie does some outstanding vocal runs which go right thru your blood and gives you goosbumps. He has'nt lost that magic in his vocal range.
I think it would be great if Stevie and Take six did a whole album together.

ZukaeNov 13, 2001 (21h46)

On mornings when I have no drive to get out of bed, all I have to do is put Stevie's voice on the sound system, and the motivation is all there. In fact I can't stop myself from dancing. There's only a few other musicians that could even remotely do that... Etta James, Aretha F, and all the sweet old talented ones. Thank you (continue to be this inspired=inspiring us all)

If it's magic...
Then why can't it be everlasting
Like the sun that always shines
Like the poets in this rhyme
Like the galaxies in time

The song is called "If It's Magic". A very beautifull song from Songs In The Key of Life,

I just want to say that Stevie is truly amazing, and certainly a gift from God. He has blessed us with so much music in my time alone(i'm only 20 years old). But what I wanted to know was if Stevie had a song which had the following lyrics: "Like the sun that always shines/ Like a poet's endless rhyme/ He holds the key......" I'm not sure of the rest, but if that sounds familiar to anyone can you please e-mail me and let me know what song that is.

just imagine that , for you stevie die hard fans out there be calm and wait for

Come on Stevie
6 and a half years is a very very very long wait.
Even if the album is'nt quite ready can you please release stuff that you have shelved, I know you have some real gems that have'nt yet been released.

There most be over 1,000 unreleased songs that you have written, can't you please release at least 18 songs of them.

I saw Stevie on the Biography Channel last night and, although I know he's a genius, he proved it on that show. I have been listening to him from the early days and I never grow tired of his sounds and am constantly amazed by his talent.
