Your music makes me think!

BrittneyMar 31, 2003 (00h16)
I wanted to tell you that your music inspires me to write. It inspires me to sing and I love you.
I have been listening to your music all my life, when I was about 5 or 6 my dad used to sing "Isn't she lovely" to me and I never really understood how special that song really is. I am now 16 and you are the number one artist on my list. Your music is liberating and it sends out important messages. Your music is also fun, with the appealing tunes that you always have. Your voice is comforting and unique and that is why you have millions of fans all over the world listening to your music. You are the best and thanks

JamesMar 30, 2003 (15h25)
Stevie, words cant express how much i love your music. It has inspired my piano playing and singing more than ANYONE else. Stevie, you probably wont check this, or get it, but if you do, i would be honoured to have been emailed by you. I am 14, and known in my school for LOVING your music, and what it does to me. Thankyou so much for the music you have given the world, and one day I hope I meet you in person!

Rocket Love is one of my all time Stevie favorites.
beautifully sensitive start and the strings are heavenly. even now over 20 years later it still has that quality.
I think the way these songs stand the test of time is amazing even his recent newer stuff has'nt macthed this period , i also love ,'With each beat Of my heart' that song is class the harmonies are nice and tight and the whole track has a laid back feel and very rich cream vocal performance, very controlled.

stevie use to take care with every single note, lets hope this new album has some of that magic.

SissiMar 29, 2003 (18h15)
Stevie,
Don't forget, I love you...Peace love!

CubeMar 29, 2003 (18h14)
I would have loved to have heard some unreleased stuff from 1974 -79.
Apperntly Stevie has loads of unreleased material lying dormant and waiting to be destroyed at his death which is a real shame.
Stevie don't waste 'I'm sure' those beautiful songs .

I was listening to that 1972 song, 'Evil' and man the emotion and vocal range and intensity is really moving and that was over 30 years ago.
i love his vocal runs , see Stevie is one of the very few male singers who can not only reach those high notes with crystal clarity but stay up there and hold them and continue the melody, very few singers can even get up there.

There are some good upcoming male vocalist who can almost get the Stevie tone but not one of them can macth Stevie's top register.

CubeMar 29, 2003 (18h08)
Well, its nearly the beggining of April and still no news on Stevie's new album.
I would have thouhgt we would have at least had a title for the album if we re looking for a may release.
Or even a single.
It seems very unlikely there will be a May release, I could be wrong, has anyone any update news?

Seth,

I believe the song you are referring to is called "Thank You for loving me all the way". It is said to be his very first recording ever. It can be found on his 1977 compilation
"Looking Back".

Hello Mr.Wonder. I just want you to know that without you and other great musicians of the 60's 70's and even the 80's there would be absolutely no music with meaning today. Beacuse of artists as you and Aretha Franklin and Al Green and Marvin Gaye there would be no Musiq Soulchild's or India Arie's to put out what they feel is worthy music. For that I thank you.Your music has always been apart of my life and I am only 16 years old. With that in mind I hope wish and pray that you continue to make oustanding records and keep the music alive!! For you I burn I pine I perish-Shakespeare...LOVE-LIFE-PEACE-MUSIC-RESPECT!!!

I don't know if someone actually reads these to you, but I have a HUGE favor to ask of you. I met you many years ago, as a child, you attended my family reunion as a favor to a cousin of mine. I believe I was only 3 or 4 at the time, but I sat in your lap almost the whole time you were there, we have pictures still to this day, but I love the song "ribbon in the Sky" and I want you to sing it for me at my wedding, just tell me how much you would charge, cause it would really mean a lot to me and I really want you there. Steveland Morris, will you please help me?

CubeMar 22, 2003 (15h49)
Yes your right Dez.
I think us Stevie fans have waited long enought for his new album.
I am also sure the directors of Motown are well aware the album is well overdue.
I think this Conception album is great and will ignite Stevie to bring out his best again he has quoated saying he is really moved by this project and this inspires him to bring out the best stuff.
I am sure it will be in may.
He is a very God gifted musican.

Hey Everyone,

Despite the current events of our time, its good to know that Stevie's
music is still on the hearts of many. I recently picked up "Conception"
and was very pleased. If I had to pick a favorite from this compliation
I would have to say that Angie Stone's take on "You will Know". Its rhythm
slightly differs from the original yet its just as mellow. I also dug McKnight's
"Send one your love". He does a good job of remaking the song altogether.

I noticed in the credits that Stevie is one of the producers of the compliation.
Does anyone have an idea as to what he may have done specifically?

O.K..........."Conception" has been released now we can look forward to HIS
album in May! Man, I hope they (Motown) are just finishing up his CD cover
and are about to send the album into mass production....lol.

Peace
Dez

Hi Stevie, my boyfriend Paul is one of your biggest fans. Ever since I've met him. you've been able to make him smile. He calls you 'The Wonder that is Stevie.' I'm kind of asking for your help really.... Since christmas Paul has been ill and has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. It is a very hard time for him at the moment. He keeps on talking about how he must have your songs played at his funeral... i was wondering if you could send a card or something wishing him well. It would make him smile again and bring back some hope..... thank you so much

Stevie. Bless you. Just saw a documentary on tv about songs in the key of life. This album has been with me since I was 16, 1976. I introduced it to my wife who is 11 years younger than I am, after we got married and of course it is her favourite to, We will pass the lagcy on to our four children. Thank you for this great piece of life that you have honoured us with.
Are you touring at all? Any chance you will come to Europe?
I saw in at Radio City Music Hall in, I think it was 83 or 84. Loved it and hold it as a dear memory.

hey HoBo Tim!
i think u're right. Saturn is a great song that more people should know. in my opinion, this song is fitting so much in the world's situation of these days becos it tells about "helpless men, women and children that don't even know what they're dying for" which is quite an appropriate expression for the Iraqi people who will die in the next days and weeks. but i think we all know that marvin gaye's "what's goin on" is a song that speaks even much more obviously:
WAR IS NOT THE ANSWER
what's goin on in this world?
Peace, MARK

To Stevie & All,
My first ever home made video! SATURN from "Songs in the Key of Life"

One of my all time favorite Stevie Wonder songs! I have always felt that this song was deserving of its own video. The lyrics tell the story of the questionable decisions we, as the human race, have made regarding our planet's future and the suffering of its people. It tells of how an extraterrestrial living among us, after seeing the priorities our leaders have set, might decide that Earth is not the place to live after all.

check it out at:
www.hobomedia.com/saturn

Very appropriate for the current events.
I made this just for fun - there is no official endorsment by Stevie.

Stevie, I hope you will approve...

Its a hohner model c clavinet, with a little guitar on the upstroke at the beginning of superstition. funky instrument.

KevanMar 19, 2003 (15h15)
Stevie, I've been a fan for a long time. I've seen you play in Atlanta -- Great show --- and hope to see you again soon. Question: At the beginning of Superstition, what instrument is being played --- Guitar, Keyboard or other. By the way to JENNY, if you are speaking of the song 'She's a Bad Mama Jama', it was actually performed by Carl Carlton who confused the world because he sounded like Stevie. But it is truly a great song

Thankyou very much for all the very fine music you've made over the
years! I bought a guitar and bass a few months ago and though I am
really a beginner one song that I hope play sometime is "I Wish" on
the bass, cause it is a really cool song. Also, thank you for songs
like "Village Ghetto Land". Unfortunately we still need songs like
these. This song is also a reminder that I need to go back to the
clothing closet at a local church to hopefully help some of the
homeless that come by.

Stay cool,

CONCEPTION...
has 5 of my favorite Stevie song's on it and although I have only heard half of the album at this point I can already say that it is FANTASTIC! Get it. Recommend it to every R&B fan you know. This is a must for anyone who truly loves Stevie Wonder.

Hello! I hope you do more albums Stevie. I love them. I hope also you can have a concert i Sweden. In Gotheburg for exemple. It is the best place to play in. Good luck in the future!!

Grateful Abused AsthmaticMar 18, 2003 (12h45)
Stevie, I need to thank-you for the inspiration and courage you've given me for more than 40 years.
Even though I can't sing all the time, because of my allergies and asthma, I do when I can. I sing because it is more fun than my Yoga breathing meditation! You taught me it's alright to try, even with a disability! I thank-you and I love you.
I listen to you and many other singers when my allergies and asthma restrict me from singing, it keeps the music in my heart!
To prove how grateful I am to you and other musicians... I have learned to play... the... keyboard... the psaltry...the drums... and (Ha,Ha) the harmonica (everyone does or they'd be cross-eyed?)... WITH MY EYES CLOSED OR BLINDFOLDED!
My family made fun of my allergies and they torchered me about them, but because of YOU STEVIE, I kept trying!!!
I couldn't think of a better way to pay you back and show my grraditude, than to learn to play 'blind'!

Hi to you all,
"Conception" album out tomorrow in U.S.A.Covers of Stevie songs by famous artists.Eric Clapton releasing single cover of "Higher Ground".
Well as for war ,here it comes! What with serious possible threat of reprisals through this action, life don't seem so safe anymore.I here a serious bacteria(Affecting respiratory function)is also being diagnosed.(First case in UK today)
So amidst all this doom and gloom i hope Stevie gets this new album out real soon.Boy we might just need it!
Ps Coldplay album,"A Rush of Blood to the Head" is highly recommended.
Unfortunately Mr.Bush has already had this.Is War the only way?
Sovereign right/Unilateral way????
Power,Politics,Military might,Financial might........
I wonder what Stevie might think of this?
Forgotten Vietnam???What next? North Korea?
I'll get back to you folks.

STEVIEWONDERSGENIUSMar 16, 2003 (18h48)
Well, I can sing and I'm in Newcastle if that helps?! I'm male, btw!! Erm...MJ and Stevie did two songs in the 80s. One called 'Just Good Friends' appeared on MJ's 'Bad' album (which is available in a remastered CD right now) and they have a song called 'Get It', which is on Stevie's 'Characters' album (which is Stevie's weakest album, IMO!!) Hope that helps!! J. xxx

Nightime is a gr8 time to appreciate the magic and wonder (every pun intended) of Stevie's genius!! To Stevland himself: thanx for helkping me to keep the faith with life and to not give up. You are truly my saviour and my major dream in life is to sing with you. I know it will never ever happen, but I'll always be able to console myself with singing along to your hundreds of songs in the bath, the shower, in my bedroom, and in clubs whenever 'Do I Do', or 'All I Do' comes on ;o) . Dear Stevie..I am a student at Berklee College of Music and my principal is voice. I happen to think that I am a really great singer and I was wondering if I could sing a song for you; so you could judge and offer me some advice or direction with my talent? Would you e-mail me back either way? It is so hard to get ahead and eversince I was five years old I wanted to do like you (Remember the lyrics from your song...Show me how to do like you?). I am thinking about leaving Berklee because it appears they only want a brothers money and yet not teach me to be a star. Stay strong my brother and sing......sing.....sing!!!

Could you tell me if there is an official biography for stevie?? When will the biography be ready on this site??

DezMar 12, 2003 (13h26)
Bk & Steviewondergenius

I've been spinning a few of those gems as well:

1.Higher Ground (Musikladen 1974)...........One of his funkiest from
this era. His clavinet, Michael Sembello and Marlo Henderson's guitars
are dynamite! I wish this song was longer!

2.Creepin' (FFF 1974)..................................One of Stevie's best
harmonica solos, and synths that put you in a trance

3.Superstition (PBS Soul 1972)...............Stevie's then 'new' song that
got everyone inthe audience jumping. He slows the tempo down to
go into brief but funky version ofMaybe your baby

4.I love every little thing about you (Syreeta 1972)............This version is very
differentfrom his version on MOMM, yet its very moving. I would love to have the
instrumental track alone.Syreeta does a very good job with her delivery.

5.They Won't go when I go (FFF 1974)............This song was wriiten in 1971,
the third written on the synth with Margouleff and Cecil. Stevie mentioned the only
difference with the 1971 version and the versionon FFF was that he put the backing
vocal on at the last minute. A true Stevie Wonder classic!

Peace
Dez

1. Never In Your Sun
2. Superwoman
3. Girl Blue
4. Blame It On The Sun
5. Go Home

Can't wait for the tribute album. I've heard Mary J Blige's 'Overjoyed' and it's gr8. Not too different from Stevie's album at all, but she knows what she's doing. I can't wait to hear the Angie Stone cover and I also heard Eric Clapton's cover of 'I Ain't Gonna...' on BBC Radio2!! Roll on the new album...and roll on the trib' alb'!!!

BK,

I also thank you for you support and wealth of Stevie
knowledge. I read Stevie's mother's book late last year.
It gave some very detailed information on Ms. Hardaway
as well as Stevie. I guess I was a bit divided though
in that although it was a book on his mom (which was good), a
good percentage of the book was about Stevie (which was better) ,
especially towards the end. The only real downside was that the cut the
story in 1974. I wanted to see Ms. Hardaway's realtionship with Londie & Aisha.

You're right! This site needs a bio, not only the stuff the casual fan would know
but really detailed info like tours, members of his band Wonderlove, unreleased songs
just to name a few. You definitely have my support!!

Peace
Dez

Hello - first time on site, yet life long fan. my fav albumn is the journey through the secret life of plants, and i'm trying to find a copy of the documentary film that this incredibly beautiful music is a soundtrack for. any ideas? if you haven't listened to this albumn you are missing out, it expresses how Stevie's ideas were so ahead of his time. i remember being 4 or 5 and listening to this albumn in the car on the way to the cottage and watching the wildlife whiz by. we all need to slow down.

Very good trivia. I only answered one correctly. The "part-time lover" question. It's funny because I have Andre Crouch's "I'll be thinking of you" and heard the harmonica solo and thought to myself "that sounds like Stevie", but I'm glad to find out that it is actually him.
Back in October when Stevie mentioned on the B.E.T. Walk Of Fame tribute that the new album would be released sometime in May, I personally added another 2 months to it and said July. Well, all signs are pointing toward a May release which is fine by me. We're talking a little over 8 weeks or so now. I don't purchase cd's too much anymore...but Stevie's is one that I know I'll be in line for. God bless.

bkMar 6, 2003 (23h39)
Yeah well....euh.....to lUCY ...that song you can feel all over is "Sir Duke"off SITKOL.
The quiz answers are.....The two artists for consecutive album grammies..Frank Sinatra and Stevie!!Andrea Crouch is correct on the duet"I'll be thinking of you".The E.P.s???False he has released at least four .E.P.number Tamla 340 is the E.P. from SITKOL.!!!
Stevie duets with Diana on "For Once in my Life "and on "I,m gonna make you love me" Motown 1968..Live at the Hollywood Palace. The first single that topped all of the four major charts in the U.S.A..RnB,Pop,Dance,Contemp.was..."Part-Time Lover"

BK,

I'm gonna take a stab at a few of those questions .........

5)Name Stevies only duets with Diana Ross?
I believe the only duet was "I'm gonna make you love me" in '69 or '70

4)Stevie has only ever issued one E.P.true or false?Tamla 340 is your hint.
I think this answer is false. Tamla 340 correlates to SITKOL. Stevie has more than one double EP (Looking Back, SLOP, Original Musiquarium)

3)Who duetted with Stevie on "I'll be thinking of you"?
I'm going to go out on a limb and say Andre Crouch. If this is the song
I think it is, Stevie has a pretty harmonica solo.

These were good questions BK. I'll have to come up with a few

Peace
Dez

Stevie,
I have been a fan since I had a "close n' play record player back in the day! When I went to college, Lasalle University in Philly, I had a Christian Brother for English 101. He asked us to choose someone that was a Genious, and prove it in a term paper. You were my only choice. Although very risky, I did my research on you, and turned my paper in to this man of the cloth. Everyone else chose the predictable and worn out Einstein's and Edison, the Wright Brothers and such. But I chose you, because I had always known that you were a genious. I got an A+, and he read my paper to all of his classes that week!! You were then, and will always be the Sunshine of my life Stevie.

Dear Stevie. My name is Albert Oestergaard, I'm from Denmark, Tannisbugtvej 61, Dk-9881,Bindslev/Tversted, I'm 8 years old. I've been listening to your music since my mum and dad introduced u to me when I was 4 years old. Your'e my favourite singer and artist. My Dad is a minimum jazzpianoman compared to u. And he sings awfull as well. I love when u play the harp and so does the rest of the family. My favorite tunes are actually "I wish" and the natural Wonder album (and lots of the ones u did when u were a child).
We all hope u'll do a concert in Denmark soon - we miss u a lot.

Yours forever - Albert Oestergaard
