Well done, boys and girls! We have seen the declaration of war against terror. War in itself is an ugly word. But it is simpler than "the harmless people's and peoples' organized, systematic, determined, active, reactive, preventive and correcting, firmly peaceful network/project/process. And it is wonderful that we can start similar projects against drugs, organized crime, economic crime, racial and other discrimination, slavery, blackmail, violence, lies and against anything harmful at all. How about "The dangerous and angry old soul witches plus the innocent-looking but impossible naked boy from Norway" against white racism? Do i have volunteers? Oh, do say you all love me! Because you do! Oh, please, do say I'm so darn good! Because I am! And come over here, and let us all get married right away! Or rather not, but let us all get pregnant with good ideas and produce a lot of good works and make life tolerable for all of God's children. But I really, i was only going to say, thank you, Stevie, for many brilliant, lasting songs. You have been a source of inspiration, joy and encouragement to many. -But now, let us give a big, warm hand of applause to racists all over the world! They truly deserve it for awakening the oppressed to stand up for their rights.

Stevie Wonder was at the MTV VMA's. He performed with miss Alicia Keys.

I was wondering if anyone knew the background story on the song "My Cherie Amour". Why did he write it, was it about a girl named Cherie, or something else? you know...basic things like that. If you know anything, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

Hi guys the opening to YATSOMLife is sang by Lani Groves and Jim Gilstrap.
Gloria barley helps also on backing vocals.
BK ..........Ps Cecil and Margouleff moved on ....there was no black/white thing !They felt that they had
taken the process as far as they could.
John Fischbach and Gary Olazabal took things further still.

yeah thanx Danny twas Nina Simone but the title is "Feling Good".She was a great artist.
To Fabia........i totally agree , Stevie is the greatest emotional music influence in my life.
Howto get that clavinet sound ?Wire an ARP synthesizer through a clavinet electric piano
and you've got that "Superstition sound"
The clavinet had been used back widely on "Where i,m comin from" and the "Music of my mind"
Stevie used it at "The Talk of the Town in 1970 even. The Fender Rhodes distorted electric piano notes
rang out way back on the revolutionary(for Motown)"We can work it Out"
of Course Margouleff and Cecil revolutionized the sound moreso.

Quick question. I know Stevie has has corrective surgery on his vocal chords to repair damage from years of bad singing habits. He then went on to work with Seth Riggs to rehabilitate his voice. Any idea when this occured..I'm thinking it was the 70's..but was it before or after Keys?

Also, why is it so hard to come across old performance footage of Stevie on VHS and DVD?

Nelson. Stevie used the Clavinet and ARP synthesizer (on I Wish) a lot in those days. The dreamy pads were usually the Rhodes. The Yamaha Dream Machine was used a lot on Keys Of Life.

To duckie,

The song you are looking for is called "Higher ground". You will find it on the "innervisions" album or try some of the many greatest hits albums to find this tune.

bkAug 25, 2004 (12h26)
Hi Duckie,
that song must be "Higher Ground" The Lyrics below

Lovers keep on lovin'
Believers keep on believin'
Sleepers just stop sleepin'
Cause it won't be too long
Oh no

I'm so glad that he let me try it again
Cause my last time on earth
I lived a whole world of sin
I'm so glad that I know more than I knew then
Gonna keep on tryin'
Till I reach my highest ground...Whew!
Till I reach my highest ground
No one's gonna bring me down
Oh no
Till I reach my highest ground
Don't you let nobody bring you down
(they'll sho 'nuff try)
God is gonna show you higher ground
He's the only friend you have around

People keep on learnin'
Soldiers keep on warrin'
World keep on turnin'
Cause it won't be too long

Powers keep on lyin'
While your people keep on dyin'
World keep on turnin'
Cause it won't be too long

I'm so darn glad he let me try it again
Cause my last time on earth
I lived a whole world of sin
I'm so glad that I know more than I knew then
Gonna keep on tryin'
Till I reach the highest ground

Teachers keep on teachin'
Preachers keep on preachin'
World keep on turnin'
Cause it won't be too long

I remember hearing a certain song on the radio and enjoying it a lot, I believe it was Stevie Wonder or at least a remake of one of his classics; however, I've been unable to figure out its title. One line sticks out in my memory something like "preachers keep on preaching, teachers keep on teaching" is this a Wonder song? What's it's name?

I forgot to tell you something. Today, August 21st, is my birthday; and, I am 37 years old. At 12:05, my mother sang my "Happy Birthday" song. I enjoyed my song. Actually, that is what made me think of telling you about our tradition. I, also, enjoyed seeing you drive a car during that Superbowl half-time show. I love you and your music.

Hi Stevie,

You sure are a marvelous Wonder. I hope someone reads this message to you. I want to inform you of the admiration my family and I have for you and your music. We love your music so much that we sing the chorus from your song "Happy Birthday" at our birthday parties, along with the traditonal Happy Birthday song. Stevie, you have helped my family form a tradition of our own. Thank you. We love you and your music.

Hi guys,
well of late the site content seems to be discussing a lot of stuff, but little directly concerning Stevie.
While many of the points are good,i think the site really should stick to Stevie Wonder.
My idea......everybody send a card to Stevie at Motown to release a new record real soon!
regards to all.
ps I never could by the album in France after all !
pps The music to Stevie Wonder is generally written in piano tablature.
The opening words to "Dont Worry bout a thing".....euh...
They do contain the spanish word ...chevere....which means groovy/great in english!
Bk in the uk. Hasta Luego !

An athlete's performance is her own, not her father's or brother's. 4. Marriage. I am very unlikely to marry any person who has been personally involved in a large-scale plot behind my back, and i reserve a full freedom to choose the nationality of any possible female safehaven. Marriage does not seem necessary in my current situation.

Odd NotesAug 20, 2004 (22h57)
1. It has been recorded that a Norwegian (who died in 1983) said, "Without words we are animals". This was published in a newspaper. I have 3 comments on this: a) this must mean that classical music, rather than punk rock, is the work of uncivilized monkeys; b) this must mean that to tell a lie is better than to remain silent; and c) without words we are animals, with words we are animals with words. :) 2. Another writer says creativity is at its greatest in homosexual circles. Well, excuse me, sir. Firstly, your idea is insulting my heterosexual ego. Furthermore, I can assure you that homosexuality or any kind of sexuality has nothing to do with my stream of creativity. Talent and 20 years of work to maintain and develop talent, plus love of music, playing and creating, has everything to do with that creativity. 3. As for feminism, it seems to seek to overpower men, which is not in my interest. I seek equality. I have promoted women's priesthood, but it should be noticed what the priesthood of women means. It means God does not judge by one's anatomy but by calling, good intent and abilities to serve as a priest. It also means women are allowed to preach on the same Jesus as men in the same manner as men - not in some militant feminist dialect. And it means "Sisters are doing it for themselves" - and this slogan means that my male help is not needed, because it is about women showing that their skills and abilities are as good as men's. An athlete's perfo

- and Aaron Neville says to A & M, "My brother Jake is finally home, but anyhow, this here is a cool track, but it don't suit nobody, so we're gonna do it ourselves". Or if Babyface says to EMI, "I want this material to appear on the future top-produced double solo album of Frankie Beverly!" Do you not think it would happen? Or if Kofi Annan says, or Lula da Silva? -With a simple strategy like this the small company (which will not be a stock company but work will be the share of ownership of anyone sticking his/her spoon into that soup) could become a significant (bene)factor in the project/process of giving the poorest economies a Tonic Boost & Baby Grand FaceLift. AND let the wrong rulers or the wrong sources of financing get in the way of this mutually beneficial deal. Black music, black performers, black financing. No racism against white people (like myself), BUT a right to make it on one's own and reach an equal, fair status, no more, no less. AND let yourselves not be fooled into controversy and power struggle between black people/good black artists. Come together, help the better future for Africa and black people materialize! AND let no one charge money for our co-operation, it is waste of money if the co-operation is our mutual will. AND another important thing is to choose the right location for the company/companies. I have some ideas on that, but they are confidential. -I have tried to do about a melody a day for 16 months now.

- reach their destination without being sold abroad on the way. -Also to ensure that the income/aid from my music remains under my direct control, and to keep my private business enterprise small and simple, I have a following vision: The rights connected to the melodies/texts/arrangements/production remain within the small company i will establish. Either in my own name or in that of other employees (let me assure you they will no longer first secretly appoint themselves and then start robbing me), or under pen names. The small company delivers its products (=songs) free of charge to good black artists in any major or minor company, using a network of respected black artist/composer/producer/whatever dooropeners, who are employed by or otherwise in excellent terms with these companies and artists. Because, is it not so that if, for instance, Stevie Wonder were to say to Universal, "Hey, I've got a great song here that would suit the Lighthouse Family perfectly", or Sade told Sony, "I want this piece of music on Des'ree's next album, and this other one on Lauryn Hill's", or Toni Braxton or Aretha Franklin says to BMG, "This melody suits Annie Lennox, and that one Lisa Nilsson", and Quincy Jones or LA or Prince or even the discredited Mr. Benson himself says to Warner, "We want Tina Turner to stop wasting her life on that stupid pension and do this song to show the young generation what it takes to be No. 1, and Aaron Neville says to A &

4) To improve access to the world market of products manufactured in African countries; for instance by establishing a quota system, in which each continent is to supply to the world market a volume of products which corresponds to its population, land area, natural resources, and environmental conditions. 5) To ensure that each continent/country/company will receive an income, which is fair and corresponds to the production volume, and natural and human resources used for that production, and give sufficient profit for investments in domestic (positive) development. 6) To introduce legislation, by which an optimum percentage (eg. 50 %) of company profit will remain within the borders of the country, in which the production takes place - either as voluntary investments or as mandatory taxes or good-will donations. -- Consider at least these options, dear sirs.

You see, I am a man, I cannot possibly be the sole slave/the major supplier for women's musical industrial plan, except where it coincides with my plan of helping black people and/or with my taste of artists, such as Toni Braxton, Des'ree, Annie Lennox or Lisa Nilsson. -To ensure that my help would go where I want it to go, i have considered the following: that black people would refine and perform the material I can provide, and the distribution of the products would be financed by an African-owned financial institution, for instance one under the control of the OAU - if this institution founded in 1963, a good year, is alive and well - and an pan-African development fund would become the main profitor (after all production expenses and investments in future production), my company would be the secondary profitor (with a restriction on how much i personally can earn: "anything exceeding so-and-so many Currencies will be donated to the OAU development fund or whatever), and the OAU fund would have strict rules on what to invest the profit in, with a strict ban on investment in weapons, for instance, and the fund would seek a balanced channeling of profit into different regions and specific material needs. The fund should mostly not give monetary help but rather order and deliver the goods specified, and make sure they reach their destination without

Summary of ParanoiaAug 20, 2004 (21h51)
There have seemed to be several institutions with a secret passion to my music. Or let us just say I am paranoid, yes, let us say that. Ha, ha. 1) Several religious movements. 2) Several political parties (or perhaps, "the political system"...). 3) Several aid organisations. 4) Several banks. 5) Several music giants. 6) Several media/telecom/oil companies with current emphasis on other kinds of products. 7) Several states or federal states. I guess the EU would have liked to pay all of its expansion from my pocket. Ha, ha. 8) Several (I am sorry that i return the historic compliment) female chauvinist pigs. 9) Several superstars. -But I would have liked to help Africa and the black people! How do we always manage to disagree so drastically?

New manuscript?Aug 20, 2004 (21h43)
I believe it will not be impossible to help Africa get its fair share of the best advances of modern development. I feel it is very important that we try to save Africa from the negative phenomena of modern society, since this should be possible. -There are many ways of helping. 1) To support the employment of Africans in the rest of the world so that they can send home some of their earnings. Any decent job is a step forward, but due to its vitality, black pop and ethnic-based music could and should be an important field of this kind of employment. Its future vitality should be carefully ensured by the old generation of black super stars by an apprentice system. 2) To allow African investment in the business of daily products and raw materials used to these, for instance food and fuel. 3) To try and arrange a total ownership or at least a 50,1-per-cent!!! African ownership of the natural resources being exploited by companies active in the international market - especially mines, farms and factories. 4) To improve access to the world market of products manufactured in African countries; for instance by establishing a quota system, in which each continent is to supply to the world market a volume of products which corresponds to its population, land area, natural resources, and environmental conditions. 5) To ensure that each continent/country/company will receive an income, which is fair and corresponds to the production volume, and natural and human resources used for that

What does it indicate if the gross national product of Luxembourg, Switzerland and Japan is 35,000 - 40,000 USD, and the rest are under 30,000. Now it is different, we are all born equal, and we will remain that way, but back in 1995, phew, it sure was a long time ago, the GNP of Finland was about 19,000 USD, and things were quite all right. (Now nothing is good enough). And there were some 17 countries with a GNP above 20,000 USD. But luckily all the countries whose GNP was above 20,000, cut the excess and gave it to the poor countries that have a GNP under 1,000 USD a citizen a year. But back in 1995 this was not the case. All of Japan's 125 million people had a GNP of about 34,000 USD, and all of Switzerland's 7 million people a GNP of about 37,000 USD, while the citizens of small African countries of Djibouti, Cap Verde, Lesotho, Swaziland, and Equatorial Guinea - all countries with a Christian majority - for instance, had to manage with 1,200 USD a year, or much less. -If Japan alone were to cut its real GNP from 34,000 to 20,000 USD a year by donations to poor economies, it would mean 14,000 USD x 125,000,000 citizens = 1,850,000,000,000 (1850 billion) USD a year... But this is not 1995, the world is much better now, is it not?...

tarshaAug 11, 2004 (03h15)

JrizzyAug 10, 2004 (22h59)
NICK- You're not alone in your quest to find all things Stevie. I'm SOOOOOOOOO jealous that the fans overseas get to see him....but that's the way it goes. I'm looking daily for tickets to see the MAN in concert. I've been a fan for a while now. I sit on the beach and just play song after song on my sax. If there's a chance that he's gonna show up anywhere in the continetal US, I'm gonna have to break the piggy bank to go see him for myself. I'll let you know if I find anything. If you do, let me know.....jrizzy06@hotmail.com Stevie....you are truely an inspiration to us all.

If someone could please let me know, that would be WONDERful. Thank you so much. God bless.

the best song of stevie: ribbon in the sky.. there is something that..you are the most talented/best musican in the world!

JonathanAug 8, 2004 (04h31)
To Matt: I guess you could say that Musiquarium is something close to a greatest hits album because most
songs on the album have already been released before... But there are some, before the point of Musiquarium, unreleased material as well...

Jonathan

Hello fans!
You should listen to a recent album released in France due to a not very known artist who plays trumpet Stephane Belmondo
"WONDERLAND". He plays in quartet with other intrumentalists and it is a very sensitive music, a great tribute to Stevie.
We can hear:Something out of the blue, Visions, All in love is fair, Too high, Girl blue, Another star, and other...
In dedication he says:" Many thanks to Stevie Wonder for the emotional strength of his songs, the deep spirituality of his
compositional works, his sense of colors and the love he devotes to music." Great album, great music!

HugoAug 7, 2004 (22h58)
Ged - Totally agree with you. Be positive! :) The album will be released when Stevie wants to release it. It actually makes me happy that
he's not releasing it yet. He is a true artist, and I'm sure he has every reason to work on it more. He probably just wants it to be goooood :) (which it will be).
Btw, I was at an Al Jarreau concert this week, in my hometown, Trondheim in Norway. It was great. Looking forward to his new album as well,
it's called "accentuate the positive"!! So guys; Stay positive, accentuate the positive, let love rule.

PS: Just have to say that when Stevie sang "GOlden Lady" at the Molde Jazz Festival concert, my tears were filled with tears, and my body was shaking...

ErnestoAug 7, 2004 (09h57)
Hace poco he descubierto la música de stevie wonder, y solo queria decir que STEVIE WONDER ES UN GENIO!!!

I've been a Stevie Wonder fan pretty much all my life (all 15 years of it) and want to know if he's retired from touring or what.
I would really be grateful if someone could email and fill me in with the details...thanks xxx

I owe SO much to Stevie Wonder... I met the love of my life in connection with my trip to go see him in concert..
Now we're moving in together... if I hadn't gone to the concert.. well, I think she and I are meant for each other,
so we prolly would've met eventually, but thank GOD we did that time..

I have no idea how to say thank you enough to Stevie, but THANK YOU!!!

Is there anywhere I can send a personal letter thanking him?
I'm not looking for a reply, I just want him to know... :)

Stevie Wonder is the world´s most greatest musician and I´m a big fan.

to whom it may concerns,
during my holiday in the Czech Replubic I saw
the Beatclub-show played by Stevie Wonder, recorded in 1973.
I like the show very much and I'd like to know if the show is avalaible on cd or dvd.
I hope that somebody can answer my question.

Greetings,

Tom

Know what you mean- ten years for me now. Sad thing is - it doesn't look like me in the
pics anymore!! - grey hair eh? Remember it like yesterday though - the cologne or scented
oils he wore, never smelt anything like them before or since. Also what struck me was how
long and thin those keyboard fingers were! Then I cringe recalling my gurgling cliches - hope
you managed to come across less starry eyed. I remember telling him how we needed
something to show our Grand kids in future of his performances. He told me they had
something in mind they were working on - that turned out to be the Natural Wonder CD

TomAug 4, 2004 (18h28)
Hey Ged - totally with you on the whole aura thing, the blindness does add to it, he has a wonderful way of making you think that he can see everything that you do. I met him weeks ago now, but I'm still on cloud nine from the experience - which I'm you can empathize with!!

Benjamin - You can call American Classics - 0044 20 7831 1210. I spoke to the shop and they said that they'd send stuff abroad with a credit card guarantee, the t-shirts are just a photo of Stevie circa 72/73, but its a great t-shirt - trust me!!

HugoAug 4, 2004 (17h49)
Stevie is all over the place! Last year I listened to one of Whitney Houston's early albums.
and guess what? A STEVIE SONG!!! It's called "We didn't know", and it's a duet with Stevie and Whitney.
It's very Stevie, it has Stevie written all over it. Love it!! Check it out!!

MATTAug 4, 2004 (03h03)
Oops! I could've swore ISN'T SHE LOVELY wasn't on SITKOL, but I found it! Is MUSIQUARIUM a sort of "Greatest Hits"?
(just wondering, becuz i like a lot of songs on that, plus it's Mariah Carey's favorite Album of all time)
To Nya: I was gonna say 'don't advertise' artists on another artist's forum, but I do like some of Natalie Brown's music.
I can't hear the Stevie Wonder inspiration, but she has a lotta soul!! lol

JonathanAug 3, 2004 (23h11)
To Matt:
Yes with "SITKOL" I meant "Songs In The Key Of Life". It takes so much to write the long version every time so... :)
Yes "SITKOL" is a great album, but I can promise you that "Isn't she lovely" is on it as well!! :)
If you want to be sure, the easy way is to check the dicography section on this site... It's the first song on volume 2...

Regards
Jonathan

mattttAug 3, 2004 (19h02)
pascal.... that video of stevie on vocoder doing papa was a rolling stone was , I think , from an old 70's show called SOUL .
Fantastic! also has a version of superstition that goes on for about 10 mins , it'll blow your pants off! it's mental and has these 70's fit inducing
fractal thinga-me-watsits crazyness going on .

have been on this site since 2001 hearing promises of the new album , so take it all with a pinch of salt . It'll be out when it's out . I just hope Stevie plays real drums on
there . He can drum like a muthadrummer

hi Stevie !
i like your music....................you are the best

JonathanAug 2, 2004 (05h08)
To Matt:
Just so you know Matt. "Isn't she lovely" IS on the "SITKOL"-album so that would be an excellent buy for you...
The albums I would recommend as first albums are: "SITKOL" (as mentioned above), "Innervisions" and maybe "Hotter than july".
All of these triggered me into buying all of his other albums so that's a good start!
My personal favourites are: "SITKOL", "Innervisions", "Where I'm coming from", "Journey through the secret life of plants",
"Talking Book", "Music Of My Mind", "Fulfillingness' First Finale" and bla bla bla... :)
That's almost all of the albums from 1970-1980... :)
Other albums I very much enjoy are: "Hotter than july" (as mentioned above), "In square circle", "Natural Wonder", "Jungle Fever"
and "Conversation Peace"...
All albums contributes... The matter of which album you may want to listen to, all depends on your mood at the certain time...

Anyway... Good luck in buying your new record...!

I've heard a lot of good things about "SONGS IN THE KEY OF LIFE" but I also love "Isn't She Lovely,"
and "Ribbon In The Sky" and many songs on "MUSIQUARIUM" Thanks!

Hey Tom

interesting your comment about his Aura. I too have been lucky enough to
meet the man after a show. When a door opened and he was led into the
room - it was literally like some being from another plain was coming in.

The blindness obviously adds to the impression as he was brought amongst us
but not seeing any of us just stood amongst us like some god. We know of course
he is not like that really - and when you talk to him he is very warm attentive and
courteous. He is incredibly self efacing too, I remember when his aid called him to
turn while he took our pics, he purposely turned the wrong way!!
