Hi y'all,
well I've taped the Divas 2003 concert and my first impressions are....
good on you Stevie.A good selection of songs.Mary J.Blige and Chaka Khan were prepared to do their thing."Superwoman","Superstition","I was made to love her","Higher ground","Signed, sealed, delivered" were good.Stevie let it rip with Chaka on "Tell me something good".His clavinet was very good.Vocally he did not overplay his hand ,when all said and done it was a DIVAS show!Queen Latifah loved it ,and acquitted herself well with a strong cover of "Living for the city".
Stevie at 53looked a bit podgy (but so i am i with my middle age spread)
His voice was solid and very mature. His professional low key but smooth approach was good. One thing did hit me with the show.Whitney Houston is a pale shadow of herself.Lip synching and looking worse the wear for her drugs, she looked bad with Bobby Brown.(How did he get on the show?!)
I will replay this show as it is a rare piece of history.Stevies warm hugs to his Divas showed where he's always come from in Man/Woman situations.
Its a good sign folks and with more live appearances the dinosaurs at Motown might just cotton on and release some new stuff.Ps Stevie knitted cap was cool, although i'd seen the animal stripe top before. The "dog" did his stuff.Highlight was his performance of "Superwoman part2" ,and the rousing end final

Bravo Monsieur Wonder !!!!

Well I caught the VH1 Divas show here in the UK, if you missed it its still on again tonight and then tomorrow.
Stevie sounded in good form. He is also to appear in the Essence Music Fest, in July. So hopefully its all part of promotion to get back into the limelight, ready for the release of the album. Which proabably looks like a September promise now.
BK, I agree that the motown website is not very informative. Its good to have the facts and figures but people also want to know info like when is the album coming out, tour dates, etc and unless you have inside contacts with SW music, you're not going to get that info.
I have done a Multi-media encyclopedia on Stevie, which could be converted to a web site, but I haven't got around to doing that yet.

Nicola
The song your looking for is entitled,'Used to Be' and its a duet he does with a lady named ,'Charlene.'
You may find it on a motown duets album.

To me the melody of this song is not that strong but Stevie's voice is the saving grace of this song, It was released as a single in 1981-2.

BK I agree with you I think its sad that there has been no news of any developments about the new promised album.
I think Motown should at least inform us all of whats going on, plus they cpould at lease release a single or some back catolog of plenty of unreleased material.

I was quite impressed with Donnie's new album , at last someone is using real instruments again .
On Donnie's album there is a strong infulence of Stevie stamped all over this album but you get the feeling that Donnie is trying to hard to mirror Stevie.

There's one track that sounds almost identical to ,'Ebony Eyes' and on some of the top notes Donnie is just about hitting them although the ballads are lovely and very interesting chords and structure.

When Stevie sings he sounds so natural and effortless and no matter how hard you work at your vocal scales , there is only one Stevie Wonder and as Quincy Jones stated, God does'nt give that gift to everybody.

Going back to the new album release, its a shame that no one knows whats happening and we could end up waiting years again.

Nicola BakerMay 30, 2003 (14h25)
I have been trying to track down a song by Stevie Wonder which I had and it is my all time favourite. But then my brother took the tape and it has never been seen since. I think it was a duet but I do not remember who it was with. Part of the words go "Have another Chevas Regal, you're 12 years old and sex is legal, you don't know what or who you are" and ends with "Someone tried to say it but they nailed him to a cross. I guess it's still the way it used to be". Please would someone tell me the name of the song and which album it is on so I can go and buy it again.

Hi Stevie, to have mastered the piano at seven and to have mastered the drums and the harmonica at nine, you are really a NATURAL WONDER. God has blessed you and what you have done, you are my role model and I love you!!! My favorite song that you sang was Happy Birthday that you sang for Martin Luther King Jr. You are one amazing person and I admire you and all that you have done. I have finished a music project on you in school and people ask me why you? And thats because you are a Wonder, you have helped me do a project and get along with my everyday life and I say Thank you. The words that you said at the end of Happy Birthday just touched my heart because " His dream became a reality and thats because our hearts told us so." You are the greatest singer!! Please email me Stevie so I can show the people at my school and in Bermuda how much of a WONDER you really are!! Thanks again!!!

Caleb

Hi to all Stevie wonder fans.......
i am currently watching VH1 and recording the divas 2003 show.I'll let you know later my thoughts.I have already visited Motown and the VH1 websites.I am hoping to get some feedback on what Stevies up to.He has of course let his promise of a May album release go by.It's sad but seemingly inevitable with Stevie.
Michael MacDonald sounds good on "I believe..."
I myself have just had a five day break in France so to all french Stevie fans... bonsoir et j'espere que nous n'allons pas attendre plus de delai pour l'album a sortir.
Of course Stevie has big links with Chaka Khan.Rufus got started with Stevies "Tell me something good".Mary J.Blige has of course done "As".
What really gets me is Motowns website. It just has not got a clue. Its a pathetic site.Really i suppose its time Stevie had a UK site.A friend of mine runs a Michael Jackson statistics site....MJ.INF....Me myself would be glad to run it ,but i have not got the IT skills.biography, facts, figures etc is all okay for me...etc...Still maybe i might start things soon.
The lyrics to "i'd be a fool right now"i will look into .Its a great track, particularly when Stevie hits "All my dreams would fall and crumble into dirt"...his wonderful vocal is a joy.
bK

Hi, guys! Stevie performed on VH-1's Divas 2003 which is shown on UK TV tonight at 9pm. If you don't already know, there is a Stevie tribute album called 'Conception' in stores now and Michael McDonald has covered four Stevie songs for his new album 'Motown' - this is also a fantastic album. Check it out. Also, Stevie plays clavinet and harmonica on a track on Elton John's last studio album 'Songs From The West Coast'. Cheeaz. J. xxx

Right!!!!!!

Who can tell me all the lyrics to I'D Be A Fool Right Now from the For Once In My Life album?
These words are not on this site, or any I've come across on the internet in all my thousand years of being alive!!

They are not hard to figure out but still, it's strange how they are not anywhere to be found.

RalphyMay 28, 2003 (14h02)

damianMay 28, 2003 (02h37)
Stevie, your music has changed my life time and time again. It is one of the few popluar forms that has the ability to heal. I am a musician myself and you are the total package in my eyes. I am hardpressed to think of another with such dynamic range as a vocalist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. Your compositions are truly unique artistic stements that are amazingly commercial at the same time. The fact that you can bridge all of these gaps is an inspiration to me forever. I will always work hard to make your influence on my own work a joy for myself and proud statement of my love. Thank you Stevie.

Hello Stevie what about a new album? As a former drummer I love your approch playing the drums but-please excuse "hate" most of your drumtracks from the 80`and 90` as the are toooooo perfect!
"Hotter than July" was the last album with living drums! If you don´t like to play I think for many of my drumheroes a dream could be true. My dream is:
Stevie at Fender Rhodes, Hohner D-6, a real grand piano some older synths
and drums( or live:Harvey Mason playin in his 70´style (I recommend his soloalbum "Earthmover"), Victor Wooten on bass (hear his solo "overjoyed"!,
brass & string ensemble and some exotic instruments from all over the world.
Sometimes dreams become true. Wish you all the best and God bless you.

Stevie, I've spent tonight telling my son about the ten days when I went to four Stevie concerts at Earls Court stadium and three concerts at Wembley Arena - wow that was magical. The last time I saw you was at Royal Albert Hall when you performed on behalf of the RNIB. Stevie we miss you soooooo much - tell me when are you touring again??? My family take in turns to come with me when I book tickets for all your London gigs - my younger son was too small last time - now he's buying your albums and wants to come with me too. Cube,

You are right about that synth sound from the Isley Brothers "For the love of you" being remeniscent
of the one used on Stevie's "You and I". We can't forget they had the same engineers Cecil and Margouleff.
These guys must have been very busy around this time. From 72'-'75 Stevie and the Isley's used them for their albums. I believe the Moog and ARP specifically are the instruments used.

Peace
Dez

Also did he do a little set, i also heard that the Isley brothers perfomed , I love Ronald isleys soulful voice, absolute class, i never forget that track ,'For the love of you' what made that song extra specail is that kind of 'You & I ' synth keyboard sound.

Second of all, I would just like to say that I love Stevie's music and I could listen to his voice all day. I think his voice is just incredible.

I call him my little Stevie Wonderful hoping that someday he might contribute something unique to the world as you have done. I don't get moved by the celebrity world and have never ever wanted to meet a famous person - but for you - I would be thrilled to be able to meet you and be a friend - though you've soooo many! Thanks for making my life better because of the energy and soul moving through me from your music.

Wow!
I 've heard snipits of Donnie's new album on the Motown website.
The best singer I have heard for a long time very similar style to Stevie and Donnie has a great vocal range and quality to his voice (a bit of Donny Hathaway in there too).

I am so glad motown are recognising talant where there's talent and I hope Donnie really takes off cause to me modern R'n B sounds the same .
This album has got quality melodies and some latin/jazz touches.
Check it out.

Also if anyone is wacthing the Diva's this evening on VH1 could someone post waht songs Stevie sang.
Thanks

hi I'm 14 years old from Germany I just want to say that Stevie Wonder is a wonderfull singer. And my favourite song is I just called to say I love you this is the only song that I hear 1990 until today this song is very beautiful. My mom sang this song every day to me with my aunts and uncles when i was 1 and a half years old.I hope I remember you always with the song I just called to say I love you.Thank and God bless you.Bye vanessa.

Stevie is the greatest musician, songwriter and singer of all time. Everything he does is amazing and unique. Countless artists such as Eric Clapton, Tom Jones, Frank Sinatra, John Cougar Mellencamp, Gilberto Gil, Stéphane Grappelli, George Mickael, etc have made covers of his songs. The quality of his music in the seventies has never been equalled. To me he is a seer.

A few months ago Stevie Wonder was honored on BET's 8th Annual Walk Of Fame. I'm not sure how many people got to see that show, but near the end of it he performed a song which I believe is called, "Can't Imagine Love Without You". I'm trouble finding that song on the internet. If anyone knows where I can find the song or can even send it to me, PLEASE get back to me.

Thanks alot BK. You're always precious. About Matt, you're funny! :-)
If Stevie is my first love, Marvin is the second one. They got magic in their minds and fingers. Look at "Here, My Dear" it's a masterpiece, it's great, it really moves you inside.
I'm very happy that here can still talk about Stevie's genious. About Marvin's, it seems many people have forgotten. It's really sad.
Peace

HELLO FOLKS,
YOU ALL NEED TO WATCH VH1 ON THE 22ND!
In response to Midnight Lady...the only track i know that Marvin sang by Stevie was "You're the one for me"back in 1966.Its on "Moods of Marvin Gaye"tmlstm11033.It was co-written with Clarence Paul and Mo Broadnax.
Of course Marvin had played drums on Stevie's first single"I call it pretty music etc".Both men of course hit a rich vein of success in the early 70's.Gaye with his definitive "Whats going on" album....Stevie from his "Talking Book" album onwards.Motown possibly has something in the vaults but we will probably never know.

Peace and Blessings:
I must say first off that I have been a loyal fan/admirer of your music most if not all of my life. I am amazed time and time again. I do have a question: There is a song, I think it's called "Grand Central Station" that I heard for the first time recently & I have been searching for the words everywhere. It was an ensemble effort, with many other artists-something like a "We are the World" medley. The music stopped me in my tracks as I listened to the different changes-I was thoroughly moved by it. Thank you for blessing my life with such inspirational music. I pray that one day I will be able to reach people through song as well.
Thanks in advance!

Stevie ...I am writing to request an autograph for one of my students. He is huge fan. He is leaving me to learn how to become a sound engineer. He wants to become a rapper. He has already produced an album. After listening to it that is when I realized that his sound was much inspired by your music and the sounds of mowtown. He put a jazz/soul flare to it. I wanted to know if I could get autographed photo that I could frame to give to him. My last day with him is June 1. Please let me know how I can go about accomplishing this for my student. Thanks for influencing my student.

Hallo -I am a great fan from Stevie Wonder, i have seen hirn in vienna three times ago, in the years 1981, 1984 and 1989. In the concert from1989 he presented a song named "Why" -a beautifull song.
My questions were, why was this song not published till now, when will come out a new album and when i can expect to see him in vienna again. In looking forward to an answer. Many greetings from Austria

ElectroQueMay 17, 2003 (05h13)
Stevie,

I will never forget how you came to Eastern High School in Washington DC back in 1977. You stopped in to say that you would be loving us always - until the day that 8x8x8 is 4. You are the greatest!!! I will always LOVE you and your music.

WisdomSeedMay 16, 2003 (19h09)
I was just saying that Stevie Wonder is a god and should have a dy while he is still alive. I can not, like many, beging to describe the breadth and depth of his talents, nor can one fully speak of the effect he has had on the whole planet. I would be hard pressed to have a favorite song, album, CD of his.

One day, while listening to "Made to Love Her", I realized that he was preaching the song, not just singing it., I love it all the more. If I had a movie camera and about 6 couples of different ages, I would love to do a video for Golden Lady.

We have a chance to honor him while he is a live to receive it, we should. Not like award show where "celebrities" get to honor him, people should be able to as well, not that we could ever repay him for all the Wonder he has gifted to us.

Bless you Stevie Wonder.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVIE!!!!! I was treated to a nice medley today on V-103 here in Atlanta and could tell people were really excited about his birthday. They played a Stevie interview in which he stated that he has narrowed the album title down to 3 choices that he feels good about and that he is working on 3 projects at the same time, a gospel and a jazz one also. So, probably no new CD for a couple of months but I hope he will release it this summer. May was promised so I hope it's not a winter release.

Dearest Stev: Happy 53rd Birthday. For 40 years now, you have thrilled my soul. Your consciousness has lifted my spirit. Your voice, music and ethereal song have seen me through the roughest days of my life, i.e., unplanned births, deaths, break-ups, etc. This is the first day in decades that I've worked on your birthday, but I am now working for the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) in San Francisco and must spend the day giving support to those who have lost loved ones to homicide. That is one of the few things that would get me to break my tradition of treating this day as a personal holiday. I carried the 45 rpm "Harmonica Man" around with me in 1964 while I was a pregnant teenager. The son I bore plays the drums exactly like you did then. He also has your endless energy. Thanks! Light 'n Love, and thanks for the King Holiday and for speaking out on behalf of Nelson Mandela, two leaders near and dear to my heart as you.

Ode to the Songmaster, Stevie, with whom I have grown up, loved, laughed, cried and hoped....happy birthday and happiness to you for all eternity. You have been a light for the world and have touched all our souls and spirits.

Happy Birthday Steve,

On this day 25 years ago I lost my mother and was sad for many years until I became a Stevie fan and realized that your birthday was May 13th then that day no longer was a sad one. Now on this particular day I smile because of you and I think of all the kind words you say to others and that beautiful smile you wear everyday. I would love to meet you some day and spend a little time with you. I hope that you are very happy and that you are enjoying your life. Have a wonderful and happy birthday and many more. I love you.

Hello to everyone in the Stevie Wonder camp. I'll never forget the time I met this wonderful, gifted brother backstage, at Motowns 25th Anniversary (Pasadena Civic Center), when I was playing with The Commodores. That was a highlight in my life, because Mr. Stevie Wonder took the time out to sit and talk to me about my career. I truly feel that I know the depths of his heart, because I too feel compassion for the world and all it's people. I watched him cry while singing "Love's In Need Of Love Today" on one of his many tv appearances, and I could tell that he ment every word. I'm not afraid to bare my soul and tell Stevie that I love the contribution he has made to society. Happy birthday Mr. Stevie Wonder! I wish you many many more. Don't go away too soon. Today's youth so desperately need to hear what you have to say. From one brother to another, Donn B. (Los Angeles, Ca.)

You are the most amazing songwriter, musician and singer! God blessed you with such incredible talent. Your descriptive music touches hearts and even brings tears to people's eyes because of it's beauty. I am a 19 year old college student.......and I keep your music in my cd player constantly. Your lyrics and description are so beautiful! You give a wonderful view of love. I just want to let you know that you are my absolute favorite! I hope that maybe one day, I get a chance to meet you or see you performe. I love you Stevie and I think that you are the most amazing and talented musician, songwriter and singer of our time. I think that everybody needs to realize that Stevie Wonder is the absolute best. If you can respond, I would appreciate it, if not.............I understand! God Bless you and keep you.

Wow!
I never knew that was Stevie doing all the backround vocals on 'Send one your Love'. Amazing.
johannas your right it would be lovely for stevie to do agospel album.
I think Stevie worksvery well together with Take Six.

Would'nt it be great if he did an acapella album with them.
I really love , oh Thou that tellest great tidings to Zion' espeacailly towards the end when Stevie and the guys losen up and Stevie does the most amazing rifts , when you hear it it goes right thru'your bones.

I really do open his new albums that there's an array of new ballads, what I like about Side 2 on SITKOL is that after ,'I wish' the four ballads that follow sound amazing espeacally one straight after the other.

Someone mentioned ,'Seemed so long' man that track is very heartfelt & beautiful.

Just found out in the UK Top 200 Singles, that a London record label, Simply 12, has released the former US #1 "Superstition" and charted it @ #112 on Vinyl limited release and made #17 on the UK Dance Chart!!
The song has been played in many clubs across Scotland so this has been bound to help. :)
WE LOVE THE SONG!!

wow. it's great to rediscover this music.

"I just called to say I love you" makes a fabulous lullaby to my sweet nephew. his parents were recently informed that his aunt (me) has the ambition to "pass on" this love of stevie wonder's amazing songs and artistry.

these songs stay with you like few others.

Yeah folks its good to see some healthy debate going on.Respect to my colleagues as usual. As for news ,well i am checking out a lead on a U.S.A. radio station celebrating Stevies birthday this coming week."Talking Book" is the Essential album on the BBC radio 2 Saturday slot.Maconie hints at new material.
as for ballads ....well where do we begin..phew its hard BUT ..my top ten
1)Never Dreamed you'd leave in summer ...that last note long note he sings!
2)The same goes for Evil.
3)The "no,no no no...dont wonder why"vocal is a stunning vocal from"Dont wonder why".
4)The marvellous sweetness of vocal in "Golden lady"
5)The ending with stevies top end on "I was made to love her"
6)The fantastic breathy vocal on"Angie Girl"(Cos i luv you..)
7)The magic whirl of a vocal on "Send one your love"
8)The pathos and tragedy/joy of his vocal on"Joy inside my tears",which is brilliantly double tracked and countered by Stevie himself
9)The mesmerizing end to "Looking for another pure love"with an array of silk smooth crescendos.
10)The gospel wail on the last line to "Heaven help us all"
Errr this is just the tip ..i haven't even mentioned "Superwoman part2",or the opening of "To know you is to love ya".The list is nearly endlessy brilliant.
On a final note...geddit! Ste

I agree with you guys on those songs. They really bring out Stevie's range. When I was younger I gravitated toward "You and I","I never dreamed you'd leave in summer" and "Lately". He has really mastered his breath control, sustaining those notes until the fade. I also like Stevie's grunt singing (last verse of Living for the city and As for example). He has the ability to really attack those notes. Thats only scatChing the surface.

Peace
Dez

There has been a definite change in his voice between Where I'm Coming From and
Music of My Mind. What I really love is Stevie's own background vocals. Heavy emphasis on "Jesus Chldren of America"!!! Also like AnotherMusician stated, his background
voices on "Send one your love" sounds like sweet female voices fading out the song. "I believe" is mindblowing filled
with Stevie's background vocals that song to another level as well as "I love every little thing about you".

Hello Stevie.
I'm Johannes from the netherlands and i love your music.
But most wontherful is your believe in Jesus Christ.
Can you make for ones in your life a verry nice Gospel album.
Than can you make me happy and cry.

AnotherMusicianMay 9, 2003 (22h55)
Cube,
Expectedly, I have many favorite moments in Stevie's ballads. Just to name a few:
"Seems So Long" is a very good showcase showing his range and emotion. Especially the very end of the song.

the way "Send One Your Love" trails off at the end with him doing all of the background vocals. It sounds just like a female chorus, but we all know it's pure Stevie.

Also, the way he says "thank you father" at the end of "Why I Feel This Way" on the collaboration with Take 6 sounds spontaneous and heartfelt.

Till "Stevie lover". Vad häftigt!...En till från Sverige som gillar Stevie (det är säkert många i Sv som gör, men inte så många som skriver här...). Jag är 14 år. Vilken är din favvolåt av Stevie?..."Take care"

CubeMay 9, 2003 (19h11)
What are your favorite stevie moments in his ballads.
Mine is the opening of 'As' the opening chords and his smooth voice.

Also the end and build up of 'Evil' .
The sustained notes of 'All is Fair in love' .

The beautiful falsetto start in 'Summer soft' and then the build up and the key change and Stevie's voice never weakens as he goes up & up , he still keeps that quality and richness. very few singers can do this , espeacilly male.

The bluesy and melodic first part of 'Ordinary Pain' Lastly The clear high notes and full voice of the end of 'I am Singing'.

What about your thoughts Dez, Another Musician, and BK.

Also Kojo does'nt know what he's talking about , If you think Stevie can't sing anylonger listen to , St louis blues' with herbi Hancock, Stevie is on top vocal form and also 'If Ever' which was quite recent , his top notes are still intact.

Your wrong Kojo I'm afriad.

You wacth his album is going to be a killer.
Hopefully out very soon. does anyone have any updated news?

Hello Stevie, we are the band Soulmates and one of us wrote a song about the world today and how to turn it all around to love and we all recorded it as Soulmates. We would like to send this to you, so how can we do this? The quickest way would be an mp3. But we can also send it on cd by mail. Can you or anyone who reads this tell us how this works? Thank you! Love, Soulmates. Anette Bosma, Vanessa van Oost Bakker, Linda Bersma, Sylvia Braumuller Poelgeest.

Hi folks,
that song trustysteve is "Sir Duke".From SITKOL album.
Kojo's points make interesting reading.Yes Steveis voice aint as good as twenty years ago.Yes he has total control on releasing what he wants.Yes some of his songs can be twee both lyrically and commercially.
I did hear Michael MacDonald sing "Evil"last night.Yes there have been mainly compilations since 1995.
BUT the point of contributing to this site is mainly because one believes in the man.To just criticise is very easy.New fans and old fans can share their joy and love for the man and his work.Yes we know its not 1972-77 when Stevie ruled the compositional world of music. But we continue to support and promote his music nonetheless.Realistically we might get one or two more albums from him before he retires. He hopefully will be touring soon.HIS MUSIC however is still very alive as exemplified by MacDonald as well as those artists on the "Conception" album. His fans keep Stevie very much alive.Just like Jackson,John etc.I sympathize with the lack of new material, but i am sure and trust that Stevie knows if its worth relesaing or not.BK ps Happy Birthday El Toro Negro.

KojoMay 7, 2003 (18h25)
I think Stevie Wonder has'nt quite got that magic he use to have.
first of all to have to wait 8 years for a new album is ridiculas , I think he thinks he's far above himself to not even release any unreleased backdated material.
All we are ever getting is 'greatest Hits albums or tribute albums the most recent is'nt just 'Conception but maicheal mcDonalds new album has at least four Stevie covers .
How much more digitally remasterd or greates hits albums do we have to endure.
I think motown are ripping us off & I am suprised Stevie who has so much talent is not sharing it with the world and keeping people waiting.

I am beggining to go off him and have been disappointed with some of his recent songs such as ,'Tommorow robins will sng' and 'Sorry' which was awful.
the only great recent song was 'Taboo to love' and 'Im new. again thats not recent.
His voice live is begginignt to sound a bit harsh and he is going over the top with his rifts.
There's not that sensitivity for e.g 'if its magic' or Rocket Love'.
I'll think we'll have to wait another year before anything new comes out and don't forget Stevie's 53 next week he's not getting any younger.

I HAVE THE BLOW UP DOLL TOO!!!!

sophieMay 5, 2003 (16h56)
Stevie Wonder is my hero! I even try to look like him as much as i can... but sometimes that is hard because I am white, and a girl. I even have the glasses he wore while he was touring in 1971. I own all the cd's and sleep with them every night, along with my Stevie Wonder, life-sized, blow-up doll (and yes, its to scale). One day i plan on poking my eyes out so I can be blind too!! I can't wait for the day when I meet you. If I ever have children, their names will ALL be Stevie (regardless of their sex). THANK YOU STEVIE!!!!!!!!

NadjaMay 5, 2003 (16h50)
Hi Stevie,
I'm 17 years old and from Denmark, and I would like you to come and give a funky koncert in DK soon!! I don't know if you've heard about SP Just Frost and Ridin' Thumb, but you should listen to them, I think they've been inspired by you! My bigbrother plays drums and has a band, and his big dream is to play with you, he is damn good so i think you should hire him!
I love your music, i have you bought "the definitive collection"....damn, how can anyone play such funky music?

Well, see you

Love Nadja

Cube,BK,AnotherMusician

I agree with all of your statements. Since his classic collaboration with Cecil and Margouleff in his prime,
Stevie has never lacked material. However a trend was started after FFF where we have year(s) between
albums. Sure, we'll get a compilation of some sorts (Looking Back, Musiquarium, Song Review) in
the meanwhile, but nothing new for the true blue fans. It is very dissapointing
to have been looking forward to May expecting a new album or single and to have nothing.
I am pretty sure its not all Stevie's fault though.
Like BK said, Motown is really not pushing anything but e-mail stuff and very rarely updates their
site. We can only hold on to what he has already given us and wait his hiatus out.
You know, it seems in the past two decades, we have more Stevie duets and compilations
than his studio albums. It seems he hasn't left us, but I praying that somewhere they are
designing an album cover for his NEW STUDIO ALBUM.

Peace
Dez

Stevie,
Your music has taken me through some very difficult times in my life. It's like certain songs reflect exactly what I feel in my heart. I am in awe at your musical talent and I yearn to be able to express myself in song as you do. Whenever I'm stressed or depressed or recycling the love I feel for my man or mankind, I just gotta listen to Stevie. Forget cigarettes or coffee or those common things people today use to relax their nerves! I love you Stevie and I hope God continues to bless you and your family. You will always have my love as a fan and as a daughter of mankind. I thank you for your music and your humanitarianism. Your music has relaxed the beast in me, awakened the lover in me, matured the mother in me, and unveiled the poet in me.
With undying adoration......
and God's blessings,
Johndca Marible

Hello, I'm come from west indies and i live in paris. I'm singing and rapping, my models are all concious rap artists like A tribe called quest, Mos Def and many more jazz rap, but my "GOD" if i can say that, is really definitly You, you and you!!! I used to train myself in song with your songs, nothin' else! It's been a long time that i love them and your spirit too. When i was a baby, my father, who was a singer too, was enjoyed " Isn't she lovely?" and saw i moved my feet everytime it was passing in the radio, it was at the end of the seventies. It's not a deal of today but a real passion come from yesterday. "TODAY'S NOT YESTERDAY..." There was 2 persons i want to see, you and your friend Minnie Ripperton... Unfortunally, your the One but you rest the best, the MASTER. God bless you, keep on producting, you are my best friend. Xcuse my english.

AnotherMusicianMay 2, 2003 (21h43)
Cube, bk & Dez,
I for one, like many others I'm sure, am also very disappointed at the delay in the release of the new album. However, I'd be lying if I said I was surprised that the album will not be out when it was "promised". Although he did make his statement on the BET show that the album will be released in May, it wasn't an official statement from Motown, Stevie or Kedar Massenburg. While I'm sure Stevie wants to only put out his best material especially so late in his career, I have to believe that with so much time off between albums that he's had plenty of time to put "finishing touches" on the album. Also, with the internet and technology making the world smaller these days, Stevie has to know that the album is heavily anticipated. Still I'll have to refer to the liner notes on the "Secret Life Of Plants" album in which he says (nearly 25 years ago) that he'll will not put out material until he's ready. Am I selfish?? Absolutely!! But, I do not stand alone in my views.

bkMay 2, 2003 (20h16)
Yeah Cube,
its very dissappointing after all the hype from the BET awards ,plus plugs on his radio station.I guess there have been problems.I guess like always they'll probably leave it until May 13th,on his birthday ,to announce whats happening. The Motown site is pathetic in all honesty. So little news, and only interested in E-mail Team bullshit.Stevie has made a direct promise this time to be ready by May.I guess he's no excuse ....with the military action now over in Iraq, and enough of a gap since the "Conception" cover artist album came out, plus he has now settled with Angela MacAfee...only that it isn't fully ready?.So many tracks that could have been released e.g. a rarities album...but i suppose we will just have to wait."Taboo to love" is a great track to re-visit."Innervisions" anniversary coming up too.Stevie..a message mate.as quoted from a famous song..."where are you when i need you ..right now..my love".

CubeMay 2, 2003 (17h59)
I think us Stevie fans are hard done by, We are promised an album in May.
You would have thought motown would have made some announcement by now as to what is actually happening ,will it or won't it be released this month .
If it is gonna be further delayed then they should let the fans know, as 8 years is a very long time for anyone to wait.

They could at least bring out another live album or an old album of previuosly unrealesed tracks.
What do folks here think?

Dez , Another Musician' 'BK' please let us know your thoughts.

I have an a cappella arrangment of "Master Blaster" where the background vocals sing the word "aylah". Does anyone know if "aylah" means something or is it just a sound someone liked? Thanks. P.S. Love this music!

CesarMay 1, 2003 (15h43)
Hey,my name is Cesar from Brazil. I have a doubt in the text of the song:"you're the sunshine of my life". In the 1º verse he says "Forever you'll stay in my heart". But when Stevie sings he doesn't says "my heart". I would like to know whith word is it. Could it be "Sward = Skin"? This happens in the 3º and 5º verses. Sincerely
